This 7-day/ 6-night tour of Paris will offer a range of wonderful art and cultural experiences along with a visit to Art Paris 2020 at the Grand Palais. In the company of your expert local guides, you will view some of Paris’ most exquisite studio museums, private galleries and art.

Our Guides

Cerise was born and raised in England. She obtained her first degree in art history from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, then left for Paris. She obtained her postgraduate degrees from the Ecole du Louvre in 2008 and 2010, specializing in painting and the Enlightenment, and has since worked in museum education as both a freelance guide and a lecturer for schools, individuals, children and families.

Anne is French and has lived in Paris since 1990. She is not only a private guide, but also an art historian graduate from the prestigious Ecole du Louvre and specializes in Art, Culture and Life in Paris. Anne is an art advisor and a collector herself and has placed artwork in museums in France and the USA.

Richard is an American expat, photographer, guide, and blogger. His blog Eye Prefer Paris has had over 2,000 posts. He has lived in Paris for more than 15 years.

March 29th/Sunday - Travel To Paris

March 30th/Monday - Arrive in Paris and Visit the Pompidou Center

  • Arrival and transfer to Paris.

  • Private transfer to the hotel can be arranged upon request.

  • Check in to the luxury five-star Sofitel le Faubourg

    • The Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg is a delightful 18th-century private mansion and former home to the French Marie Claire magazine. This newly renovated hotel is perfectly located steps away from the Tuileries Gardens, Grand Palais Galeries, and the Louvre, as well as excellent shopping. Facilities include a bar, restaurant and spa.

  • Time to relax and refresh and have lunch on your own.                     

  • Afternoon highlights tour of the Pompidou Centre and visit to Brancusi’s studio.

    • A large leisure and culture complex, the Pompidou was built during the 1970s by architects Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano, in the high-tech postmodernist style. It is now France’s national gallery for modern art. We will take a highlights visit  of the Pompidou before entering Brancusi’s studio. Brancusi created most of his works in the workshops which he occupied in the 15th arrondissement. In his will, he left his entire workshop, reconstructed on the piazza of the Centre Pompidou in 1997, to the French state. It features a unique collection of 137 sculptures, 87 pedestals, 41 drawings, 2 paintings and more than 1,600 photographic glass plates and original photos by the artist.

  • Back to hotel to relax and rest.

  • Dinner at a local bistro near the hotel.

March 31st/Tuesday - Picasso Museum and Private Galleries

  • Full buffet breakfast in our hotel and morning tour of the Musée Picasso.

    • Guided visit to the Musée Picasso, home to more than 5,000 works of Picasso and tens of thousands of archive pieces, gifted to the French nation by the artist at the time of his death.  Located in the 17th century Hotel Aubert de Fontenay, nicknamed L'Hôtel Salé (Salt House), it is one of the finest historic villas in the Marais.

  • Free time for independent lunch.

  • Guided visits to important private galleries.

  • Champagne/Wine Reception.                          

  • Dinner independent

April 1st/Wednesday - Studio Museums of Paris and The Louvre

  • Full buffet breakfast in our hotel and morning departure for the Musée Jacquemart-André.

  • This hôtel particulier houses a stunning collection of 18th century French decorative arts as well as paintings and sculpture from the Italian Renaissance, collected by the original owners Édouard André and Nélie Jacquemart. 

  • A short distance to the Nissim du Camondo: Musée du Arts Decoratifs.

    • One of Paris’ most beautiful small museums with wonderful furniture and decorative arts. The building was commissioned by Comte Moise de Camondo, a leading Jewish financier, in the style of the Petit Trianon at Versailles. The interiors recreate an aristocratic town house of the Louis XV and XVI eras, and has an excellent collection of 18th century furniture, tapestries and paintings.

  • Independent lunch and free afternoon to enjoy sights or shopping.

  • Early evening highlight tour at the Louvre.

  • Dinner at a nearby restaurant.

April 2nd/Thursday - Fondation Vuitton, The Marmottan & D’Orsay

  • Full buffet breakfast in our hotel.

  • A before-hours opening visit of the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

    • Fondation Louis Vuitton: located in the Jardin d'Acclimatation in the west of the city. This striking building, designed by Frank Gehry, houses a permanent collection of contemporary art. Explore the superb contemporary art exhibitions, architecture and park of this fascinating site before it opens to the public. A museum guide will provide the tour.

  • Lunch at the onsite restaurant “Le Frank”.

  • Visit to the Musée Marmottan.

    • This lovely hotel de ville, once a hunting lodge of the Duke of Valmy, near the Bois de Boulogne, was turned into a museum in the 1930s.  It features the largest collection of works by Claude Monet including “Impression Sunrise” as well as a superb collection of Impressionist art  and other 19th century treasures.

  • Early evening tour of the  Musée D’Orsay followed by dinner.

April 3rd/Friday - Art Paris 2020 and Fashion Show

  • Full buffet breakfast in our hotel.

  • Depart for the Grand Palais to enjoy an expert-led tour of the ART PARIS.

    • Every spring, Art Paris brings together some 150 galleries from twenty different countries in an art fair/expo that combines a regional exploration of European art from the post-war period to the present day with a cosmopolitan approach to art from other geographical horizons: Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

  • Free time to explore ART PARIS and have lunch on your own.

  • Afternoon fashion show at the iconic Galeries Lafayette.

  • Remainder of the day free to explore and dine independently.

April 4th/Saturday - Rodin and The Opera

  • Full buffet breakfast in our hotel.

  • Visit to the Musée Rodin.

    • Rodin donated a number of his works to the State on the condition that they were always exhibited in the Hôtel Biron where he lived. The gardens are magnificent and display his key sculptures.  In recent years, the museum has had a superb refurbishment, making it one of the most magnificent smaller museums and gardens of Paris.

  • Walking tour in St. Germain with free time for lunch.

  • Return to hotel to change or rest.

  • Dinner followed by the opera “Don Giovanni” at the Palais Garnier.

    • The Palais Garnier is a 1,979-seat opera house, which was built from 1861 to 1875 for the Paris Opera. Mozart's 'Don Giovanni' returns to the Paris Opera with a captivating production, directed by Ivo van Hove and co-produced with the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Performed by the Orchestre et Chœurs de l’Opéra National de Paris and conducted by Philippe Jordan.

April 5th/Sunday - Depart Paris

LESLIE CARROLL DESIGNS IN TRAVEL

Mobility

Paris is a city where reasonable mobility is essential. A number of visits have to be done on foot because coaches cannot navigate the city centre and we will be doing a number of walks.

Tour Numbers

Tours are subject to a minimum number of participants. While we endeavour to run all tours, if the tour cannot go ahead due to insufficient numbers, or due to other factors beyond our control, your payments will be refunded. Please see ART TOURS website and booking form for our full terms and conditions.

Passport and Insurance Arrangements

You must have a valid passport and take out full travel insurance to cover all aspects of your holiday and it is part of our terms and conditions that you do so. This insurance should be activated from the point of holiday confirmation and should cover all emergency and medical care, cancellation and repatriation costs and ideally your luggage and personal possessions.

Visa arrangement

Changes to the itinerary and extensions to your holiday may require a Visa. Art Tours Ltd.and/or Leslie Carroll Designs in Travel would be delighted to book and/or advise on alternative travel arrangements before, during or after the tour and will help with upgrades or extensions to your itinerary.

Travelling as part of a group

Please remember that this is a group tour and you will be expected to be punctual at meeting times and remain with the group during the fixed part of the program or advise the tour manager if you do not intend to take part in any aspect of the itinerary in advise advance. Please keep an eye at all times on your lecturer and tour manager while walking through the city. If you need to leave the group for any reason, please inform them. It is important that we stick as close as possible to our timings. If you need assistance getting to destinations by taxi while the group is on foot, you will need to meet these costs yourself.

If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to change any part of your Tour please contact us immediately and we will do all we can to help you, but it may not always be possible. If it is possible to make the change, you will be asked to pay an administration charge and any further cost we incur in making this alteration. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made.
